The Perfect Beach
The place where the rainforest literally meets the sea, the beach at Palm Cove is, to put it mildly, beautiful. Voted Australia’s Cleanest Beach in 2003, Palm Cove is still thought of as one of Australia’s most idyllic beaches. Restaurants and resorts line the main beach offering al fresco dining come sundown.
The Atmosphere
Palm Cove is no stranger to luxury. Though small, the Palm Cove Village is home to five star dining, boutique shops and art galleries. Beachfront resorts offer opulent accommodation, dining with a view, and enough spa options to pamper yourself for days on end. With more than 18 restaurants and bars, not to mention a spattering of cocktail bars, the nightlife of Palm Cove is well worth experiencing.
The Natural World
Surrounded by rainforest and with the Great Barrier Reef lying only just offshore, it’s no surprise that Palm Cove is a fantastic window to the natural beauty of the tropical north. Walk amongst the trees and listen to the birdlife in the rainforest, or try your hand at fishing: the jetty at Palm Cove is regarded as the best fishing spot in the area. For an in-depth introduction to the natural history of the area, and the culture of the Aboriginal people who lived in it, an experience such as Flames of the Forest should not be missed.
All the Benefits of Cairns
The real advantage of choosing to visit Palm Cove is it’s proximity to Cairns. The Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef are as much at your doorstep here as they are in the city. Many tours pick up visitors from Palm Cove, or offer transfers. Experiences such as visiting the Cairns Tropical Zoo or gliding over the landscape in a hot air balloon are just as accessible from Palm Cove as they are in Cairns proper.
