It’s no secret that Kangaroo Island is one of Australia’s more beautiful natural destinations. Where it’s easy to give advice on what attractions to check out while you’re on the island, giving tips on Kangaroo Island’s best views is a little more obscure. Luckily, we’ve got some great ones to start you off.
Remarkable Rocks: It should come as no surprise that Remarkable Rocks come at the top of the list. With funky rock formations framing the view out to sea, there’s very little that can go wrong with this amazing view.
Admirals Arch: Just as Remarkable Rocks looks out over the Southern Ocean, so to does Admirals Arch, also in Flinders Chase National Park. The real treat here isn’t the sea views though, but the views of the Sea Lion colony that lives at the base of the cliff.
Snapper Point: Looking over the Backstair Passage, views from Snapper Point don’t look out to sea, but rather towards the Fleurieu Peninsula on the mainland.
Duck Lagoon: Aptly named, Duck Lagoon gives visitors beautiful views over the inland waterways of the island – and their resident birdlife.
Mount Macdonnell: The highest point on the island, at 307m above sea level, Mount Macdonnell is one of the best spots on the island to view, well, the island! Kangaroo Island is a land of rolling hills – summiting Mount Macdonnell showcases them to their best advantage.
The Cygnet River: With its fairytale name and proximity to those beautiful rolling hills, strolling along the Cygnet River is a brilliant way to take in more of the island beyond the coastline.
Vivonne Bay: Vivonne Bay has gotten quite a bit of recognition in its time, including being acknowledged as Australia’s best beach. It’s quite a reputation, and upon seeing the view of its long, curved beach and shining white sand, you’ll agree it’s one very much deserved.
