Visiting southern Queensland is high on many travelers’ bucket lists. When visiting somewhere new though, it’s difficult to know where to stay to get the most out of your experience. Luckily, when it comes to deciding where to stay on the Gold Coast we’ve got a guide to help you out.
Your first step is deciding what sort of accommodation you’d like. Everything from resorts to camping is available on the Gold Coast. Apartment stays and holiday houses are great for groups who like their own space, where hotels and bed and breakfasts are fantastic for those who like a more inclusive experience, and backpacker hostels, caravan parks or camping grounds attract those on a budget.
Once you’ve chosen what sort of accommodation you’d like, the next question is where. The Gold Coast is comprised of many different regions. Surfer’s Paradise is the main tourist area, covering the city itself and many of the surrounding beaches. Southport is home to Sea World, and is, deceptively, actually to the north of Surfers Paradise.
Broadbeach is another popular base, a little quieter than the party central of Surfer’s Paradise, and somewhere you’re much more likely to find holiday houses and family friendly rentals. Broadbeach is characterised by its canal-like system of waterways and the Blues on Broadbeach music festival. The Burleigh Heads and Currumbin area rounds out the main regions of Brisbane, providing another area much quieter than Surfer’s Paradise, with attractions such as the David Fleay Wildlife Park and Burleigh Heads National Park.
